I love that it’s packed with hearty ground beef, colorful veggies, and a stir fry sauce that’s an umami lover’s dream. It might be the easiest dinner I’ve ever cooked. So grab a wok, and get ready to whip up a super flavorful dinner in a flash! Raise your hand if you love a good stir fry! They’re so easy, and so delicious. But when I add ground meat into the mix, they become even quicker. My Ground Turkey Stir Fry, Mongolian Ground Beef, Korean Ground Chicken, and Thai Basil Chicken are some of the fastest meals on GypsyPlate. This time I am going with a Chinese theme, and adding plenty of veggie power for a super nutritious meal.
Ingredients Needed
This stir fry is one of the most versatile Asian ground beef recipes you’ll ever find. I’ll give you a bunch of variations later in the post. Here’s what I used today:
Ground beef – I prefer 85/15 ground beef. It enough fat to stay tender, but not so much to make the stir fry greasy. Veggies – Today I am using mushrooms, green beans, broccoli, red bell pepper, carrot, onion. Aromatics – Garlic and ginger. I can’t see doing any stir fry without them. Stir fry sauce – Soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey, red chili flakes. My usual flavor combo that is just right.
Easy Ground Beef Stir Fry Recipe
First, I heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. I add the ground beef and cook until it is browned, breaking it up as I go along. I add the ginger and garlic and cook for a minute or two, then remove it all to a plate. If needed, I add some more oil to the pan, then add the vegetables and cook them for few minutes (I like to keep them pretty fresh and crisp). Finally, I add the beef back in, along with the sauce, and mix until everything is well combined. I cook for a couple of minutes, then serve it over fresh rice.
Variations
You can easily make this stir fry your own, as it’s super versatile. Here are some of my favorite ways to change things up:
Make it Spicy: I like to add my favorite Asian chili sauces like sriracha, gochujang, or my easy Chili Oil. Thai-inspired: Sometimes, I use Thai flavors like fish sauce, lime juice, and basil, and add chopped peanuts for extra texture. Add Some Egg into the Mix: I either scramble the eggs right into the stir fry or top the finished dish with fried eggs. Teriyaki: Some days I swap out your usual stir fry sauce for Teriyaki Sauce. Add some pineapple chunks for a sweet twist. Play with Your Veggies: Other vegetables I love to use are bok choy, snow peas, baby corn, and water chestnuts. Add a Splash of Sesame Oil: This gives a distinctive nutty flavor to the dish. Make it a Noodle Stir Fry: I cook some udon or rice noodles separately and toss them in at the end for a beef and noodle stir fry.
