We used to have a peach tree in our yard and we’ve had some years when it delivers a bumper crop. This year was one of those years and while I was almost overwhelmed by the volume of peaches, I am so glad I figured out this super quick method to prep the peaches for the kids. This is a great way to handle a lot of peaches, to make slightly less ripe fruit soft and flavorful, and to intensify the natural peach flavor. These stewed peaches are wonderful as a snack or paired with other foods (like yogurt, oatmeal, or chicken), so they are super versatile. You can even freeze them if you make a big batch! I often serve them to my one year old as they are as a simple fruit side dish or snack. Or I like to stir them into oatmeal with fruit or have them with cottage cheese or peach yogurt. You could also serve them with something savory like roasted pork or chicken if that sounds good to you.
How to Store
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days. To freeze, let cool fully and place into a freezer container. Freeze for up to 6 months. To use, thaw overnight in the fridge and serve cold or slightly warmed.

Serve cold as a simple fruit side dish or as a peach yogurt. Serve warm in oatmeal with fruit as another option. Sweeten to taste as desired. The sweetness of peaches can vary a lot, so taste the fruit once it’s cooked and add sweetener as needed. I like honey, but maple syrup works too. You can blend this into a simple peach puree or freeze as Peach Popsicles if desired. Dice them into small pieces (like the size of a pea) for older babies or slightly bigger pieces as the kids are older.
