I love to make holiday meals fun but without a lot of fuss, and these are some of my favorite easy Halloween lunches to share in October. There are options here that are fun in color (lots of green food!), fun in shape (see the jack-o’-lantern quesadilla), and easy to pull off on a busy day where you may have trick-or-treating or costume parties scheduled. Each lunch can be prepared quickly and will work either at home or at school—pack any foods that are better enjoyed warm in a kids thermos. I know that many share recipes that look like mummies, spiders, ghosts, ghouls, goblins, eyeballs, and more, but these are simpler ideas to pull off more quickly. My go-to option for packing a Halloween lunch box for preschool or school is to make it all green foods or all orange foods. Easy! (My Spinach Muffins are perfect for this.) Sign up for our email updates to get tips and ideas sent to your inbox.

Best Tips for Success

Remember you can do as much or as little as you want for holiday food. I usually keep it simple, but you do you! Halloween cookie cutters can transform simple sandwiches into a fun Halloween lunch. Aim to include some fat and/or protein in the meal so it’s filling enough. Add green foods or orange foods for an easy way to embrace some of the holiday vibes.
