Best Baby and Toddler Bibs
The best toddler bibs are the ones that last, are easy to clean, keep the kids’ clothes dry, and don’t wind up covered in stains. Through three kids, I have tried an embarrassing amount of bibs—but all for good measure since I can now tell you which ones are worth buying! There are options here for baby bibs and toddler bibs, with a focus on ones that will last you for years so you can reduce how many items you need to buy. I also chose toddler bibs that are easy to clean and wash, to ensure that clean up from meals is as easy as possible. What to Look for in a Bib
Here’s what to consider when buying a bib for a baby or toddler: Sign up for our email updates to get tips and ideas sent to your inbox.
The size: Make sure you’re buying a bib in the right size range, taking into account whether your kiddos is average, small, or larger. (In a lot of cases, you can size up so it lasts a little longer, but not always.) The material: Wipe-clean fabric is worlds easier to clean than cotton, in my experience, so be sure you know what kind of material you’re considering. Recommended care: Is it machine washable? Spot-clean only? Read through the care instructions to make sure they line up with your approach to life. (As in, the last thing I want to be doing is trying to get stains out of bibs in my spare time, but maybe you enjoy the challenge!)
How to Care for Bibs
Most of the bibs on my list can simply be wiped down and hung up until the next meal. I’ve used suction-cup hooks to make a convenient hanging place on my backsplash—though many people simply hang them on the back of a high chair.
Favorite Bib Brands
Below are my very favorite brands that have been tested in real life for years. Each of these has options for babies just starting solids and toddlers.
Baprons Baby
This is a great bib since it covers the kids’ laps when they are sitting down—it’s a fan favorite among my Instagram followers and for good reason. It has a soft yet waterproof fabric made from eco-friendly polyester that’s fused with a soft yet waterproof layer. This means the apron will stay dry and comfortable to wear. (You can find full kids apron picks, too, if that’s a better fit for your family.) It comes in two sizes—6M-3T and preschool (3-5 years), so you can choose the one that works for your child. Starting at $19.95, Baprons.com (Use the code YUMMYTODDLERFOOD at checkout for 10% off)
Bumkins Baby Starter Bib
These are great baby bibs, sized to fit smaller kids (ages 3-9 months). The fabric is super strong (so it won’t rip) and is incredibly easy to clean—both with a sponge or wash cloth and in the washing machine. They’re also quick to put on and take off, which can be helpful when feeding babies since they are often done in an instant.
Bumkins Baby Short-Sleeve Bib/Smock
With slightly more coverage, this option from Bumkins fits ages 1- to 3-year-olds and can be a nice option to keep more of their clothes food-free as you head into the toddler years. They have so many fun designs and are always introducing new ones. Keep an eye out for special collaborations with brands like Disney and Marvel.
Bumkins Baby Long-Sleeve Bib
If you’re looking for an option that truly covers, this long-sleeve bib is a great one. It fits ages 6-24 months and is similarly easy to clean and care for as the other models. This one has elasticized cuffs on the wrists to keep food from getting onto sleeves, and it’s super durable. We have this sweet dino print, but there are so many to choose from!
Oxo Tot Roll Up Bib
This bib is a great option if you’re looking for one to last through baby and toddler years. It’s a combo of fabric (around the neck) and silicone (for the pocket), so it’s easy to clean—either wiping down or in the washing machine—and comfortable. And the Velcro neck is both secure and easy to use. And: You can roll the whole thing up and stash it into a diaper bag to take on the go!
Brinware Silicone Bibs
With bright colors and fun designs, these Brinware bibs are another easy-to-use silicone option. I love how simple they are to wipe out with a sponge and hang to dry. The front pocket helps catch food and spills, and the bib has a secure button-style latch. These are super soft and comfortable and dry in minutes.
Best Tips for Baby and Toddler Bibs
Look at the sizing specifics in the product description to choose one that will fit your baby. Wipe clean after use and hang to dry over the side or back of the high chair, or over a dish drying rack. Or, use suction hooks to hang on your backsplash. Be sure to empty out the pocket after meals, as sometimes food can accumulate. My list of Baby Snacks may help with ideas, too.
